Leanid Marakou

Leanid Marakou (Leonid Vladimirovich Moryakov) (April 15, 1958, Minsk-December 17, 2016) was a Belarusian journalist, writer, historian, encyclopedist, member of the Union of Belarusian writers, eligible member of the international PEN club. Researcher of repressions of the Soviet authorities in Belarus. Nephew of Valery Moryakova. Graduated from the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (1984), worked at the Minsk computer plant. Since 1987, electronic engineer at the pilot plant for the production of unique physical devices and equipment of the USSR Academy of Sciences, other institutions. Since 1999 lit. employee of the newspaper “Voice of Motherland”. He publishes essays about the life of repressed Belarusian writers, an action-story. Leanid Marakou’s works have been translated into Russian, German and English.
